The Finial roofing approach
A damaged roof doesn’t always need to be replaced. In fact, many of the repair jobs that we attend involve localised damage that can be repaired rather than replacing the entire roof.
Inspection
We start the process with a thorough free site survey. Our focus is on finding the problem, not inflating the cost. If it can be repaired safely and effectively — we’ll say so.
Reuse rather than replace
Wherever possible, we aim to reuse original roof tiles and timbers that are still in good condition. This not only helps you save money ; it’s more sustainable and maintains the original appearance of your property. .
Quality Repairs, Every Time
All our repair work is carried out with the same care and craftsmanship as a full installation. From membrane replacement to structural timber work, every element of the work is handled with care —no shortcuts, no rushed work.
Respect for Your Property
We keep the site clean, and safe, communicate clearly, and treat your property as if it were our own. It’s this attention to service and respect that keeps customers coming back and referring us to friends and family.
Case Studies

New roof and Solar Energy system – Chichester
A customer in Chichester contacted Finial Roofing after ongoing issues with his roof finally reached a tipping point. He had been dealing with intermittent leaks for several months and had made temporary repairs himself in an effort to manage the situation. However, with the problems recurring—particularly during heavy rain—he decided it was time to seek a professional, long-term solution.
At Finial Roofing and after a brief consultation over the phone, we arranged a site visit to conduct a full roof inspection.
Initial Assessment
After carrying out a comprehensive inspection of the roof it was clear that some tiles were broken, several tiles were cracked or missing, and others had moved over time causing the roof to leak.
The junction between the house and conservatory was also leaking badly as a consequence of a previous poor repair to the joint in the metal box gutter. We recommended that this leak be repaired by the application of Chroma roof and gutter sealant.
In view of the overall poor state of the roof it was recommended that the old roof be stripped entirely and new roof tiles fitted.
Consideration of an alternative energy system
During our initial consultation the customer also expressed a strong interest in making his home more energy efficient. He had been researching renewable energy options and was particularly interested in integrating solar energy into his home. With the roof needing replacement, he saw this as the perfect opportunity to incorporate solar panels into the new design.
Some of the cost of installing solar panels was offset by the reduction in the cost of fixing new roof tiles on one pitch of the roof.

Roof repair – Selsey, West Sussex
One of our recent repair jobs reflects exactly what Finial Roofing stands for.
The customer contacted us after noticing several broken tiles at his home in Selsey, West Sussex. After further inspection, signs of dampness in his loft and some ingress of water through a bedroom ceiling were found.. Other roofing contractors had advised a full roof replacement, quoting prices for work that frankly wasn’t necessary.
Inspection
When we inspected the property, we found that whilst one roof pitch was in poor condition, with missing / broken tiles and a failed felt membrane, the other pitch was sound with no defects.Rather than replace the entire roof, we recommended a targeted repair approach saving the customer several thousands pounds.

A new slate roof Installation at Frensham Barn Workshop
Finial Roofing is proud to have completed a heritage project at the historic Frensham Barn Workshop—an 18th-century barn nestling in the heart of the Surrey Hills is now home to a vibrant crafts centre. Set within a Conservation Area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this heritage building required a roofing solution that honoured its architectural legacy while ensuring longevity, performance, and sensitivity to the surrounding landscape.
Traditional Materials, Expertly Applied
The previous roof had become structurally unsound after years of patchwork repairs. The decision was made to replace the failing roof entirely with new, sustainably sourced natural slate—selected to mirror the look and feel of the original materials used centuries ago.
Challenges and Craftsmanship
As well as maintaining the traditional appearance of the barn by using natural Spanish natural slates, additional natural light was required to provide better illumination for visitors and those working within the building on crafts and other activities. Combining traditional materials with modern rooflights was a technical challenge that Finial Roofing were able to meet.

New Roof – Waterlooville, Hampshire
We recently completed a comprehensive roofing refurbishment in Waterlooville, Hampshire, for a homeowner experiencing long-standing issues with a leaking roof. Upon our initial site survey, it was clear that the roof was in a state of considerable disrepair. Several roof tiles were missing or damaged, exposing the property to water ingress. Additionally, the timber fascias and soffits had become rotten, and the original guttering and downpipes were leaking and inefficient.
After a thorough inspection and consultation with the client, we devised a cost-effective, long-term solution to restore the roof’s structural integrity and improve both its performance and appearance
